The grease trap prevents the introduction of substances that could damage or disrupt the functioning of the collective sanitation network. This specifically concerns fats and oils, whether of animal or vegetable origin, that are present in wastewater from the kitchen.

Installing a grease trap is therefore essential in restaurants as well as for food industry professionals such as butchers, cafes, bakeries, pastry shops, caterers, etc.

    What is a grease trap?
The grease trap is a device designed to retain at the source of their production a number of pollutants from culinary activities: fats, oils, and large waste. It is a gravity-operated device whose function is to block grease and debris. This separation process occurs upstream of the wastewater discharge into the sanitation network. The goal is to avoid polluting the network and blocking pipes.

How does a grease trap work?
The grease trap works as follows: the device is installed just after the wastewater drainage pipe. When wastewater enters the trap, fats and oils rise to the surface, while larger particles (like food scraps) settle at the bottom of the tank. The treated water is then discharged through a dedicated outlet into the pipes, leading to the sanitation network or the household septic tank.
