- Staff flow: the pantry should sit off a main circulation path, close enough for quick breaks but far enough that queuing at the counter does not block a corridor or meeting room entrance.
- Available space: A pantry needs enough clear floor area for users to work comfortably without blocking circulation, plus storage, not just a counter squeezed into leftover space after everything else is planned.
- Natural light: a pantry near a window or facade reads as a break space rather than a utility corner, which matters for how the area gets used through the day.
- Access to services: proximity to electrical points, ventilation, and a stack or riser still matters, but with a pumped drainage solution it becomes a convenience rather than a hard constraint on where the pantry can go.
Weighing these four together, rather than letting drainage override the other three, is what produces a pantry location that actually works for the people using it.
Positioning the Sink, Dishwasher, Storage, and Appliances
Once the location is fixed, the internal layout needs to follow a logical work sequence: storage and crockery on one side, sink and dishwasher together in the middle, and appliances such as a microwave or coffee machine positioned where they do not create a bottleneck at the counter.

Retrofits: adding a pantry to an existing floor after the base building plumbing is fixed usually rules out new gravity drainage without cutting the slab.
