Case Study: How 21 Sanipack Pumps Created Hotel Bathrooms Without Core Cutting
Converting an existing building into a hotel can become difficult when every room needs a new bathroom. With no core cutting or floor raising permitted, conventional drainage was not an option for this project. SFA India installed 21 Sanipack macerator pumps, one for each washroom, to connect the WC, washbasin, and shower. This case study explains how complete hotel bathrooms were created while keeping the building’s original structure largely undisturbed.

Turning an existing building into a hotel sounds simple on paper. The rooms are already there, so it is mostly a matter of fitting them out. The difficulty arrives at the bathrooms. Every hotel room needs its own WC, washbasin, and shower, and every one of those fixtures needs a way to drain. In this project, the building ruled out the usual way of providing it. This case study shows how SFA India solved the problem with 21 Sanipack macerator pumps.
Project at a Glance
| Item | Detail |
| Project | Conversion of the 1st and 2nd floors of an existing building into a hotel |
| Requirement | A fully functional bathroom in every room |
| Fixtures per bathroom | WC, washbasin, and shower |
| Constraint | No core cutting permitted, and no floor raising possible |
| Product installed | Sanipack macerator pump |
| Units installed | 21, one for each washroom |
The Challenge
The client wanted to convert the 1st and 2nd floors of the building into a hotel, which meant creating complete bathrooms for multiple rooms. Each bathroom needed a WC, a washbasin, and a shower.
Conventional drainage was the obvious route, but two limits stood in the way:
- No core cutting. The building did not permit core cutting, so new drainage lines could not be run down through the floor slabs in the usual way.
- No floor raising. The alternative of raising the floor level to hide pipework and create a gravity fall was not feasible either. It would have added load to the existing structure and affected the overall design.
With both options closed, creating fully functional bathrooms through traditional plumbing would have required major structural changes. The project needed a different approach to drainage altogether.
The Solution
SFA India recommended the Sanipack macerator pump and supplied 21 units, one for each washroom. Each Sanipack was connected to the WC, washbasin, and shower cabin of its room.
The compact unit was installed neatly behind the bathroom partition, out of sight. Wastewater from all three fixtures flows into the Sanipack, where it is macerated and then pumped through small-diameter pipework to the available drainage line.
This approach meant the drainage no longer depended on cutting through floors or building up levels. The client could create complete, modern hotel bathrooms on both floors without core cutting, floor raising, or major modifications to the existing structure.
The Result
- 21 hotel bathrooms created across the 1st and 2nd floors
- No core cutting required
- No floor raising, and no added load on the existing structure
- The building's original design left largely undisturbed
About the Sanipack Macerator Pump
The Sanipack is an extra-slim macerator pump designed to be hidden from view, where wall-hung or back-to-wall sanitaryware is wanted. It takes waste from a WC, washbasin, and shower, and its macerating system breaks the waste down so it can be pumped through narrow pipework to the drain. It is built for installing a complete shower room or fitted bathroom without digging a pit or cutting the floor.
Key Benefits of the Sanipack
- No core cutting or pit digging: a bathroom can be added without breaking through the floor.
- Complete bathroom from one unit: it connects the WC, washbasin, and shower together.
- Extra-slim and concealable: compact enough to sit behind a partition or wall-hung WC frame.
- Small-diameter discharge: wastewater leaves through slim pipework (32 mm recommended), which is far easier to route than a full-size drain.
- Pumps up and away: up to 5 metres vertically, so the bathroom does not need a downhill run to the drain.
- Easy maintenance: designed for servicing without removing the unit.
Where the Sanipack Is Used
- Hotel and guesthouse conversions: adding en-suite bathrooms to existing rooms, as in this project.
- Upper floors and older buildings: where slab cutting is restricted or structure cannot take extra load.
- Commercial and office spaces: adding washrooms where no drain is close by.
- Homes: basement, loft, and extension bathrooms, or an additional bathroom in a small space.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Sanipack is designed to create a complete bathroom where conventional drainage is difficult to install. It can receive wastewater from a WC, washbasin, and shower, then pump it to the available drainage line through narrow pipework.
The Sanipack can pump wastewater up to 5 metres vertically, helping bathrooms connect to a suitable drainage line even when a conventional downhill route is not available. The final installation should be planned by a qualified plumber.
A complete bathroom can be added by connecting the WC, washbasin, and shower to a suitable macerator pump. The pump carries wastewater through small-diameter pipework to the available drain, reducing the need for major structural changes.
Yes. Sanipack allows a bathroom to be installed without digging a pit, cutting through the floor, or raising the floor level. This makes it suitable for existing buildings where structural changes are restricted.
Yes. The Sanipack is an extra-slim unit designed to be concealed behind a partition or wall-hung WC frame. It can be used with wall-hung or back-to-wall sanitaryware, helping maintain a clean bathroom design.
A macerator pump is useful when new bathrooms are being added to upper floors, existing rooms, or older buildings where core cutting, pit digging, or floor raising is not possible. It can also help preserve the original structure and layout of the building.
